LYOCELL RUGS

LYOCELL RUGS

No other fibre rivals lyocell for softness and luxurious shine.

Lyocell is plant-based fibre, but it is also processed with synthetic substances. That means, it's neither all natural nor all synthetic: it's in the middle. This makes it a semi-synthetic fibre.

Lyocell is made by harvesting wood, which often comes from eucalyptus trees. The wood is then broken down into small pieces and chemicals are added to dissolve the mixture into a wood pulp. After a process of heating, filtering, and spinning, the fibres are washed, dried and lubricated, until they are ready to be spun into the yarn we call lyocell.

The process of making lyocell fibres is not only sustainable because of the materials used but less water and energy are used in the manufacturing of the fibre. Among lyocell's many properties, it is breathable. It doesn't absorb smell as quickly as other yarns and it does not need to washed as often.

The Rug Story only uses the finest materials. As a result, slight deviations in texture and colour may occur from dye lot to dye lot (up to 3%). If precise colours are required, please advise your sales manager upon placing the order. A hand-made rug has a unique signature to it and no rug will be equal to the next.
